Rumors that Tesla wants to debut in the smartphone market have been circulating for a long time, although there was no specific information about the device yet. However, the other day, the first renders of a model that will be called the Tesla Model Pi were revealed on the network.
Thanks to the images, it became known that the gadget will receive a quad camera with an unusual block design and a front camera placed directly under the screen. Recall that a smartphone with such a selfie module has already been released, this is the ZTE Axon 20 5G. But the technology turned out to be very crude and the quality of selfies on the “invisible” front-end from ZTE corresponds to smartphones 5 years ago. It’s interesting to see how Tesla can implement this concept.
Another feature of the Model Pi should be an unusual case cover, thanks to which the device will be able to change its color. The concept is shown in the picture below.
The exact technical specifications of the gadget such as the processor, screen size, RAM and battery capacity are still unknown, but it is stated that the Tesla Model Pi will support SpaceX’s Starlink Internet with a maximum download speed of up to 210 Mbps. It will also be possible to mine Marscoin cryptocurrency directly from a smartphone.
In addition, the new product is credited with deep integration with Neuralink technologies.
These are neurocomputer interfaces, that is, chips that Elon Musk’s company plans to implant into people’s brains to treat injuries and improve brain abilities by the end of 2021.
All these developments really belong to Elon Musk, but it will be very difficult to implement them in one device. Therefore, the likelihood that the Tesla Model Pi will be released in this form is doubtful. In addition, one can only guess how much a smartphone with such functionality will cost in the end.
